Band Training
From January until now, we have had the privilege of hosting two of the three seasons of Band Training, with eight classes each. Our band training for beginners includes learning guitar, piano, and drums. Through these classes, ten primary school students and eleven middle school students had the opportunity to learn a musical instrument for the first time. Together, they learned to work as a team to set up instruments before class, and a sense of joy and responsibility when practicing to play music together.

Play and Connect
In each class, we have one hour of training and half an hour of board games and group bonding activities, so that students can build meaningful friendships. Through these games, students get to break out of their comfort zone, put each other's creativity to the test, share their experiences, and develop a stronger sense of belonging and mutual support.

Show Your Talent
Whether singing English songs or Chinese songs, students had the opportunity to break out of their comfort zone and showcase their talents. In season one, students performed in one evangelistic event and two student-run JAM sessions. In season two, we hosted our first and very own Mother's Appreciation Performance, showcasing students' skills and building their self-confidence. The event also involved food preparation, where students learned to plan, calculate cost, and shop together. The hope is that the youth can take pride in their growth and abilities while contributing positively to the On Tai community.

Take Away
What we were able to witness in the past five months is that students from primary four to secondary school have a strong desire to be challenged and learn new things. When they have a strong friendship formed, they will leave their phones and come out of their comfort zone. When youth fear the unknown, they and their parents need to be encouraged. A fun and safe environment to make friends is an opportunity for an increase in emotional intelligence, building confidence when failing, problem-solving, resolving conflicts between peers, and openness to the Christian faith. None of this is possible without the financial support of our generous donors. - Thank you.
